Gary Gorski, Clearwater Construction

ABOUT GARY

Gary grew up in Pittsburg but moved to Bend, Oregon, at 20 years old, intending to become a “mountain man”. Instead he got a job driving a concrete mixer.

He grew intrigued with the work that happens at the other end of the concrete chute, and began teaching other workers on the job sites how to operate the mixer so he could personally manage the wheel-barrow, straight-edging, etc.

After a year Gary began taking his own concrete jobs at night: sidewalks, curbs, whatever he could get. About 5 years later, by a clerical error on the owner’s part, he landed his first bridge contract. He may have been awarded the job by mistake, but he did a good job and gained a reputation in the bridge industry.

Today Gary employs 250-300 workers in 7 states.
